Big Sioux Rifle and Pistol Club

The 50 yard and 200 yard ranges have been updated with elevated baffles to stop accidental shots from leaving the range. Cost to non-members effective September 1st will be $15 per day. Due to concerns with rounds leaving the range the 100 yard range will continue to be closed unless a dedicated range office is available to oversee shooters on that range. One range officer in the club house does not provide the level of supervision we need on the 100 yard range. This policy will be in effect until the club can afford to build elevated baffles on that range.

The 200 yard range will be open to normal rifle cartridges but rimfire ammunition will not be allowed and only pistol cartridges of 357 magnum or larger will be allowed. No shotguns on the 200. As always all round must impact the target and the rear berm.

On the 50 yard range two benches have be provided for rifle, pistol or shotgun. The rest of the bay is set up for standing shooting of pistol or rimfire rifle only. No centerfire rifle or shotguns from the standing position. Special target stands will need to be used on this range only.

A reminder to all shooters that you are personally responsible (morally, financially and legally) for all shots fired. Damage to range property or rounds leaving the range will be severely dealt with up to including banishment from the club.

The Big Sioux Rifle and Pistol Club was recognized as an NRA affiliated club on September 10th 1979.

The range itself was not constructed until several years later. Since the land was purchased in June of 2002 a modernization has taken place and a new building was constructed and the range shelters rebuilt.

The ranges were upgraded to accommodate more shooters and the club continues to improve the facilities.

During the summer months the club sponsors CMP (Civilian Marksmanship Program), Cowboy Action and IPSC (International Practical Shooting Confederation) events.

The clubhouse has two restrooms (handicap accessible) and is heated and air-conditioned. Water, pop, targets and earplugs are available.

All positions are covered and have benches to shoot from. Sand bags, staplers and target frames are provided.

We have 10 pistol lanes and 18 rifle lanes. 1 shotgun patterning board is available.

The pistol lanes have target lines for pistols at 10, 25 and 50 yards.

For rifles we have 25, 50, 75, 100 and 200 yard target positions.

A range officer is always present when the range is in operation. The range is closed if an RO is not available.

IPSC and Cowboy action shoots are held on a separate range complex adjacent to the other ranges.

The range is open Wednesdays 1:00-5:00, Saturdays and Sundays 9:00-5:00.
