In 1952 with an eye to the future a group of Dell Rapids Outdoorsmen saw a need for a
safe, accessible place to shoot. They found a 10 acre site next to the Big Sioux River,
bought the property, and gave the Dell Rapids Sportsmen’s Club a home.
Now 55 years later, we have the pleasure to enjoy one of the truly unique shooting facilities
in eastern South Dakota. The “Gun Club” as most call it, is one of a very few to be blessed
with a rifle range, pistol range, trap field, field archery course, and
an archery sight-in range all in one location.
We offer League shooting for Trap, as well as shooting on an individual basis for archery, trap
and pistol. We sponsor open shoots and tournaments throughout the year to give members
opportunities to sharpen their shooting eye as well as socialize with one another.

We have a beautiful range located just outside of Dell Rapids, SD. We provide the following amenities to all members and visitors to the range:- Clubhouse

Trap Range
Each year from May to August we offer Trap League Shoots and Open Shoots. As a member you can
choose to shoot on a team, or just stop out and shoot a practice round. At all other times members
are welcome to use our manual thrower for practice on their own. The thrower is mounted on the trap
range for easy access so you and your family can throw birds at your convenience. Keep your
eyes on the newsletter for Open Shoots and occasional Grocery Shoots and Fun
Shoots.
Rifle Range
If you are a target shooter, black powder enthusiast, plinker or just like to keep your hunting eye
tuned in, you will find our 100 yard high power rifle range is just what you need. With controlled
access, 3 bench rests under a canopy, a high berm,
and excellent target holders, shooting has never been this easy. Wind conditions are at a minimum since the Club lies low next
to the Sioux river. This seclusion plus keyed access gives the target shooter privacy and safety
when using the range.
Pistol Range Anyone who likes to shoot knows how hard it is to find a place that is safe and accessible for shooting, especially a pistol. Our Pistol Range has a wrap around berm, 25 and 50 yard shooting posts, 3 bench rests, excellent target holders, and key controlled access to assure the pistol shooter a secure place to practice.
Archery Range It is very difficult for any Bow Shooter to find a suitable place to shoot. The Club offers it’s members a field archery course complete with 3-D targets, long and short yardage shooting lanes and an elevated shooting stand with several target options. There is a sight-in range from 10 to 50 yards with targets at every 10 yards. The range is great fun for a beginner or the experienced shooter as well. The Club also has Youth Archery Equipment that can be checked out by members for their children. This course is truly an enjoyable shooting experience for the whole family.

It’s important to have a safe and secure place to shoot. The Dell Rapids Sportsmen's Club offers each member a key to the Club gate. This controlled access assures that you and your family will have a enjoyable experience whether you shoot archery, pistol or rifle. Your membership is a family membership. Your spouse and any of your children (18 or under), are welcome to shoot with you at any time.

The Sportsmen’s Club is easy to find. Just head south of Dell Rapids on Hwy 115 (Old Hwy 77).
At the Dells of the Sioux Scenic Overlook sign, turn right onto Dells Drive. Follow the gravel
road south until you see our sign.
